Although we enjoy touring shows, we never forget our roots, and the power of well run, proper participatory arts. We have delivered projects everywhere from Salford to Siem Reap in Cambodia and the creative and practical relationships we form along the way have made these events transformative and binding experiences. Take a look at Dirt and Dreams or Lighting the Legend in the Gallery for examples of the work that we produce in this area.
Our strongest relationship is with Ordsall Community Arts and the community there, both of whom we have worked with for 8 years, along with other artists. This collaboration bears its most impressive fruit every Autumn at Lighting The Legend, where in 2009 we led the show to a new venue straddling a canal (see Green Bananas). 2011 saw the festival return to its spiritual hoe at Ordsall Hall with the rising of the white lady searching for her stolen children, a group of 12 street dancing blackbirds from Irlam of course.
We're developing a strong reputation for giant puppets, engineered and interactive and leading workshops with university students, theatres and conferences.
Although we set up Pif-Paf to deliver outdoor theatre, we also work on creative consultation commissions for indoors installations. Spring 2006 saw us make a story tent which holds a multimedia tree with film, mechanical ways for pupils and teachers have to say about a £5m educational initiative and a series of interactive automata boxes that fed back to a Surestart centre.
