Pete Gunson
I formed Pif-Paf in 2003 inspired by the companies that I worked for and saw at festivals and in non-traditional venues. Lots of this work was presented by MIA and Xtrax in and around Manchester.
I graduated in 1998 from Manchester University with an MEng in Civil Engineering with French. I set up making furniture in re-claimed materials and became heavily involved in a sustainable building project called MERCi. Three years later I had been taught to weld by the man that fitted the protest tunnels in the Manchester Airport campaign and had worked alongside a group of people with a very sophisticated view of campaigning for sustainability and generating successful innovative projects. After meeting the Spacecadets I worked with them and in community arts projects for until 2002 when I met IOU and have been taking on more responsibility with their team since then. Since 2001 I have been working consistently with Ordsall Community Arts, an organisation in Salford with a very ambitious view of what participatory arts can become.
Pif-Paf allows me to work with inspiring artists and promoters to develop our unique cross-disciplinary vision of how our work can throw a light on the magical world around us.
As well as myself there is the core team of collaborators, who each shape the work and vision of Pif-Paf with their talents and enthusiasm, making dream reality.
